Gale Virtual Reference Library

These are quite different than the NetLibrary ebooks because these really are books you'd find on reference shelves (hence the name!) and the GVRL eBooks can be easily found, no matter where you look!

ACORN:
Find these eBook titles from an ACORN title search, or just type into ACORN the Keywords: Gale Virtual. Then, click on the hyperlink in the record to access the eBook. From home, you will need to enter your library card.number.

On the Research Portal, listed under Descriptions as Gale Virtual Reference Library. You will also see entries like Virtual Reference Library: Countries and Places OR
Virtual Reference Library: College and Career.
Here we have grouped titles together, so you can cross search them to save time.

Take the Guided Tour to get a feel for all the nifty features. Remember, what makes an ebook so wonderful is being able to search inside the book. You may also browse the Electronic Table of Contents. And see the handy Print, Email & other options, always along the blue bar at the top.

Currently we have about 50 titles in areas such as science, business, countries, popular culture and more.

Practice searches:
From the GVRL menu:

Prepare for a trip to the optometrist by entering the terms eye examination in the FIND (Search) box. Survey the results--the best is probably the one from the Gale Encyclopedia of Medicine. Vol. 2.

Locate scholarships for programs in the arts. In the FIND searchbox, enter:
scholarships arts--you will see several results, most from the eBook Scholarships, Fellowships and Loans.
